Extended Day-Ahead Market Final Proposal posted
MESSAGE

The California ISO has published the Extended Day-Ahead Market (EDAM) final proposal. The final proposal, available on the EDAM initiative webpage, is the product of extensive collaboration with stakeholders through various working groups and public meetings held throughout the initiative, in addition to sizeable amounts of written comments on the different iterations of the proposal.

The EDAM final proposal describes the policy design for extending a day-ahead market across the West, which builds upon the collaboration and successes of the Western Energy Imbalance Market (WEIM). The EDAM can provide significant economic, reliability, and environmental benefits by positioning the footprint to meet the expected next day demand and other obligations cost effectively, and providing the ability to effectively respond to changes in system conditions.

The EDAM design will go before the ISO Board of Governors and WEIM Governing Body for decision in February 2023.

All EDAM-related materials are available on the initiative webpage linked above.
