The California ISO shared the results of the resource sufficiency evaluation analysis during a stakeholder call on March 30, 2021, and received requests to provide an additional opportunity to ask questions about the data that was presented. In response to that request, the ISO is accepting written questions from stakeholders to further clarify the results of the analysis, which can be found
on the Market Enhancements for Summer 2021 Readiness initiative webpage at http://www.caiso.com/InitiativeDocuments/Presentation-Export-Load-WheelingPriorities-MarketEnhancements-2021SummerReadinessMar26-2021.pdf. The recording of that meeting has also been posted and is available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoI0PgXCV5A.
The ISO will follow up with its plan for addressing the questions, which will be based on the number and types of questions received. Please submit questions to isostakeholderaffairs@caiso.com by end of day April 15, 2021.
The purpose of conducting this analysis was to examine the performance of the resource sufficiency evaluation during the summer 2020 extreme heat events. This topic was part of the Market Enhancements for Summer 2021 Readiness initiative and will be discussed further in a separate initiative to explore enhancements to the resource sufficiency evaluation process. This new initiative will also evaluate possible changes to the consequences for failure to the tests. Details related to that initiative will be communicated in a future notice.
