The California ISO has launched a new initiative called Western Energy Imbalance Market (EIM) Base Schedule Submission Deadline, and will hold a public stakeholder web conference on Sept. 30, 2020 to discuss the issue paper and straw proposal for this initiative.
This initiative will examine changing the final base schedule submission for the operating hour to T-30. Current financially binding base schedules are finalized at T-40. This later submission deadline will potentially reduce imbalance energy settlement quantities while providing more accurate resource sufficiency test inputs. In this same initiative the ISO is also proposing to examine updating tariff rules and market system to allow for base schedules to include energy below a resources minimum load. This proposed modification will allow entities to more accurately capture the startup energy.
A presentation, along with the paper, will be available prior to the meeting on the initiative webpage at https://stakeholdercenter.caiso.com/StakeholderInitiatives/Western-EIM-Base-Schedule-Submission-Deadline.
A web conference will be available for stakeholder convenience. In addition, the call will be recorded and the video file posted on the initiative webpage for a limited time. The recording is for informational and convenience purposes only, and any related transcriptions should not be reprinted without ISO’s permission.
Please submit written comments on the final proposal by end of day October 14, through the ISO’s new commenting tool using the link on the initiative page.
