The California ISO has scheduled two public stakeholder calls on July 27, 2020, and July 29, 2020, to review the straw proposal for the first bundle of topics in the Extended Day-Ahead Market (EDAM) initiative. The straw proposal is available on the initiative webpage at http://www.caiso.com/StakeholderProcesses/Extended-day-ahead-market.
The objective of the EDAM initiative is to develop an approach to enable the Western Energy Imbalance Market (EIM) entities to participate in the ISO’s day-ahead market. EDAM will improve market efficiency and more effectively integrate renewable resources by optimizing day-ahead unit commitment, producing hourly schedules, and improving transmission utilization across a larger footprint
As requested by stakeholders, the EDAM initiative has been separated into three bundles of topics. This proposal focuses on the first bundle, which includes resources sufficiency, distribution of transfer/congestion revenues and transmission provision. These topics were first discussed with stakeholders during the Feb. 11 - 12, 2020 technical workshop. Topics included in bundles two and three are outlined in the straw proposal.
A presentation will also be available prior to the meeting on the initiative webpage at link above.
The calls will be recorded and video files posted on the initiative webpage for a limited time. The recordings are for informational and convenience purposes only, and any related transcriptions should not be reprinted without the ISO’s permission.
Please submit written comments on the straw proposal and meeting discussions to initiativecomments@caiso.com by end of day Sept. 10, 2020.
